Katy from Bracken and Twine Flowers will be on hand to share her incredible skills and guide guests in creating beautiful wreaths. As always, our courtyard will be a winter wonderland, overflowing with festive foliage, berries, pinecones, seed heads, dried flowers and an unrivalled selection of materials. The actual making of our wreaths takes place in the rooms surrounding our courtyard which are kept nice and warm!

Whether you choose our Designing with Dried Flowers workshop, which exclusively uses dried elements, or our Christmas Wreath workshop, which blends fresh and dried materials, you’ll find everything you need for a fun and creative experience. With expert guidance, an abundance of materials, and warm hospitality, we’re sure you’ll have a memorable time. We are delighted to announce that our programme of Autumn and Winter Flower workshops for 2022 are now available to book. As the season slowly starts to change and rich, warm colours appear, we are looking forward to welcoming back our guests to enjoy our programme of creative floral workshops for Autumn and Winter 2022.  

We are also pleased to be welcoming back Katy from Bracken & Twine Flowers who will leading an Autumn floral masterclass using the best seasonal flowers and foliage.  We also have a new class covering designs using dried flowers plus our ever-popular luxury Christmas Wreath workshops are back as we look forward to getting ready for the festive season.  

As always, our guests can expect a warm welcome and a relaxed environment where individuals can explore their floral creativity. With lots of inspiration and expert tuition, everybody leaves with wonderful floral designs and skills to try more at home.

Katy from Bracken and Twine Flowers and Jane from Daphne and Doreen Flower Studio will be here, sharing their skills and assisting all our guests with making beautiful wreaths. As always, our courtyard will be filled to the brim with festive foliage, berries, pinecones, seed heads, dried flowers and an unrivalled selection of material for our guests to choose from. We have both our Winter Wreath workshops which uses just dried elements and our Christmas Wreath workshops which incorporates both fresh and dried material available.

We will be limiting our guest numbers this year but, we do have lots of space and large working areas for all our guests. In addition, we will continue to follow all Government guidelines and should we need to cancel the workshops due to the pandemic, a full refund will be available.

Christmas Workshops for 2020

We know that 2020 has been a very challenging year for so many and we were sorry that we had to cancel some of our Spring workshops. We are, however, delighted to announce our Christmas workshops dates for 2020 as we try to get back to doing what we love. We will, of course, being following all government guidelines which may be in place at the time of the winter workshops dates. We do, however, have lots of space, large workspaces and will be limiting our guest numbers this year as well as taking lots of extra precautions. We therefore hope that you will be able to join us for some creative festive fun which we think we all deserve more than ever at the moment!

This years workshops include our favourite Winter and Christmas wreaths and we have also added a rather special Winter urn workshop for this year. All our workshops will include a unrivalled amount of material to choose from. We have been growing and drying beautiful flowers and seed heads all year and we will be cutting lots of fresh and unusual foliage so all our guests can make unique arrangements which will be packed full of texture and personality!

Spring flower workshops

Our beautiful Spring flowers workshops are now available to book. With an abundance of fresh spring flowers, our workshops are perfect for those looking for some creative time. We are also delighted to welcome back Katy from Bracken and Twine Flowers who will be sharing her wonderfully romantic floral techniques using the best of this season’s floral offering.

Spring is also a wonderful time in our gardens when thousands of bulbs appear to fill the borders with wonderful flowers. Our workshops include a walk around our gardens with lots of guidance on growing your own flowers and foliage for use in arrangements at home.

Christmas wreath making workshops

With just over two weeks before we commence our wonderful Christmas wreath making workshops at Swanton Morley House, Norfolk we have been busy gathering lots of beautiful and unusual materials for our guests to work with.

As the seasons change, our gardens provide a glorious amount of seed heads, pinecones, grasses and other natural materials which are perfect for our Christmas wreath making workshops. We have, however, been gathering material all year round too. Over the summer we dry an abundance of flowers including lavender, alliums, hydrangeas etc which are used to compliment the fresh foliage.

This year, our Christmas wreath making workshops will be led by Katy from Bracken and Twine Flowers. Located in Norfolk, Katy is an independent and qualified florist with many years of experience and is highly sort after for her beautifully romantic wedding work. We are delighted to welcome Katy for this year’s Christmas workshops and are excited to see her wonderful creative and natural style in action.

Christmas or Winter Wreaths?

We are delighted to offer a range of festive workshops including Christmas and Winter Wreath making classes. But, what is the difference between a Christmas Wreath and a Winter Wreath? Well our Christmas Wreaths are made on a moss base using fresh foliage and flowers. Whilst more akin to a traditional holly wreath, these beautiful wreaths are packed full with a mixture of materials. We also include dried elements such as seed heads and pinecones to give texture too. But every Christmas wreath is different and we encourage all our guests to make their own unique design. As the moss base is kept moist, Christmas Wreaths are suitable for hanging outside.

Our Winter Wreaths are made using dried materials and are fixed onto a metal frame. During the year, we dry a huge range of flowers, foliage, seed heads etc so our workshop guests can get creative with lots of lovely and unusual materials. As Winter Wreaths do not need hydration, they can be made early in festive season and are suitable for indoor and outdoor use. Over the last couple of years we have seen an increase in using dried floral materials and winter is a perfect time for making use of these elements for beautiful floral designs.

Both our Christmas Wreath and Winter Wreath making classes will be taught be Katy from Bracken and Twine Flowers. Katy is an independent florist with many years experience and is a highly sort after for her beautifully romantic wedding work.

Welcome to Norfolk Flower Workshops

Welcome to our new website! We are delighted to be working with Bracken and Twine Flowers and Daphne and Doreen Flower Studio to offer creative flower workshops. Located in the heart of Norfolk, Swanton Morley House and Gardens is set within 10 acres of gardens, meadow and woodland, which is the structure and inspiration for our floral workshop experience.

We believe in the importance of using British flowers and therefore, use locally grown blooms and foliage wherever possible. Most of this comes from our beautiful cutting gardens. The huge variety that we grow, means guests are able to create elegant designs, rich in colour, texture and scent. With the increasing desire for sustainability, we also avoid using materials which are not reusable or do not easily bio-degrade.

Our flower workshops aim to provide guests with inspiration and some creative direction, in a friendly and relaxed environment. A step-by-step demonstration is given, before participants are encouraged to work to their own style, using a wide variety of locally grown flowers and foliage. We also provide an abundance of foraged and dried materials to enhance designs with a natural and romantic edge.

We aspire to offer floristry classes that develop new skills in addition to providing a fun, yet relaxing experience. Delicious refreshments and a chance to explore our gardens is also included.
